Kasha Ra

L.Ac., MSOM

Kasha earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from The University of California Santa Barbara in 1995. Her early education and training in Chinese medicine began in GuangZhou China under the tutelage of Master Luo Guo Hua as an adjunct to her martial arts training. After 2 years of dedicated training, she returned home to attend graduate school and ultimately received her Master's degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from a 4 year program at the Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine. Kasha is a licensed acupuncturist, herbalist and primary care provider in California.

Kasha has spent the past 11 years specializing in reproductive health, pregnancy, postpartum support, neuro-endocrine-immune health and offers alternative medicine for a wide variety of other acute and chronic issues. She has served patients both on and off-site from Northern California Fertility Medical Center, Cal-IVF Davis, and Kaiser Fertility Center. Working in concert with the treatment protocols designed by her patients' reproductive endocrinologists, Kasha is able to weave Chinese medicine into the fertility programs for better results and faster recovery times.

Kasha's 22 years of clinical experience along with her own personal health journey gives her a unique perspective on addressing complicated cases. Since 2012, Kasha has been integrating functional medicine with clinical nutrition into her practice for significantly better patient outcomes. She is a certified functional medicine practitioner and has extensive continuing education in advanced functional medicine from the Kharrazian Institute, in areas including:

  • Gastrointestinal issues
  • Neuro-inflammation
  • Auto-immunity
  • Hashimotos
  • Diabetes
  • Infertility
  • cognitive decline and dementia
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Cardiovascular syndromes
  • Mood and anxiety disorders
  • Longevity and wellness
  • Chronic infections
  • Hormone imbalance
  • Chronic inflammation

Kasha values an evidence based approach to understanding the mechanisms of imbalance. As such, she will embark upon a journey of exploration with the gold standard of lab tests and provide a detailed look into various physiological mechanisms behind every chief complaint. A strong emphasis will be placed on lifestyle factors as well, such as sleep, diet, blood sugar regulation, stress management, healthy relationships and exercise. Each patient is treated as an individual and no treatment plan looks the same. For some, functional medicine is about regaining health and for others it’s about maintaining strength and vitality. No matter what your goal is, Kasha will work closely with you to achieve them together.

Kasha is also dedicated to serving her community by offering educational groups for her patients and the general public. These groups include acupuncture demonstrations and discussions of the latest relevant scientific research. She has also been a guest speaker for RESOLVE of Northern California, a support group for families dealing with the challenges of infertility.
